ABOUT THE ROYAL BURGH OF WICK

Wick (norse origin meaning creek or Bay) is the most northerly county town in mainland Britain. It has a population of approx. 9,000 and was once quoted as the busiest herring fishing port in Europe. There are several interesting places for you to visit in and around Wick here are but a few.

The Wick Heritage Centre - The Castles of Oldwick, Sinclair and Girigoe
Dunbeath Castle

Within half an hour lies John O’Groats, where day trips may be made to the Orkney Isles with full guided tours.
If you would rather take the car you can catch the car ferry at Scrabster and Gills Bay.

Dunnet Head is the most Northerly point but Duncansby Head has great views and
if you are lucky you might caught a glimpse of the puffins.
